Mount Dora, Mount Dora, Mount Dora! I can go on and on how I love my new hometown. The first day we visited Mount Dora to see if it lived up to the hype, I heard David Oliver Willis sing. He was in the back of PizzAmore belting Adele’s Rolling in the Deep. When David emerged from the kitchen, I was surprised to see how young he was. His tone was so rich, yet he made singing look so effortless. Before I heard David, I had heard other people through out downtown sing outside or in coffee shops. In PizzAmore I looked at Sergio and told him I wanted to live in a place where children/teens could express themselves through the Arts. Guess what? DAVID WASN’T A KID, he’s a married adult!
I finally got to meet David a bit past midnight on New Years (2013). There were rumors that he got the golden ticket at the American Idol auditions, so I wanted to congratulate him, followed by an “I LOVE MARIAH CAREY SO MUCH. YOU ARE SO LUCKY!”, and he showed me a picture of him and Mariah together.
This past year, David and his wife became proud owners of Mount Dora Coffeehouse & Bistro . The both of them love to perform and it’s such a treat to be able to enjoy their talent. Olivia and David are very genuine people. David is on American Idol this season, so vote away!
About a month ago, David gathered some friends and put together Inside The Songwriters Circle. His friends included Vincent Powell, Rachel Hale, Olivia Willis, Becca Bradly, and Josh Holiday.
I got there a few minutes late and didn’t get to capture Vincent Powell’s set. He was amazing though. His nickname on American Idol was the Soul Man, I believe it!
David performing his song Horizon. It’s definitely my favorite by him.
Miss Rachel wrote a song about her future husband, whom she’s never met before.
We loved her energy
David’s lovely wife, Olivia. The sound quality isn’t up to par, I apologize. I have a new camera and totally blocked the mic with my finger. I did this through out the concert. Never again..I promise.
Becca Bradley, a cellist for Grammy Nominated Francesca Battistelli.
Josh Holiday, another American Idol contestant.
This song was absolutely heartbreaking. Josh had lost his little brother just a couple weeks before this concert. He wrote this song for him. Rest in peace, Jordan Wright.
Wade in the Water
This was a lot of fun. Thanks, David, Vincent, Rachel, Olivia, Becca, and Josh for putting on a great show!
AGAIN…vote for David this season!!
BREAK A LEG, DAVE. MOUNT DORA LOVES YOU!
