Hi, hi, hi!
It’s that time again, my weekend in pictures…
I had a perfect Friday afternoon with the boys as we soaked up some rays, fresh air, and exercise.
Maybe I got a little bit too much fresh air because I woke up with a swollen tonsil on Saturday. It was pretty gross and I felt awful. Because I suffer from chronic allergies, when I get nasal drip, my tonsils swell up. I canceled all of my plans, moped around my house and acted like a drama queen.
The postman came by to drop off this awesome package. My ate (ah-tay) Pam in the Philippines was kind enough to pick up these goodies for me. When her boyfriend came back to the states, he sent me the treats (thanks, kuya Sean!). What a great surprise, this definitely lifted up my spirits.
What’s funny is that she picked out my favorites, things that I always pick out for myself when I’m at the Filipino market.
The Pastillas de leche taste just like the ones I’ve had from Nicaragua and Spain, they’re sooooo good! Filipinos have the best cashew candies too. When I had a bite of the Cashew Marcipan, it took me back to my childhood. It’s not common here in the states but watermelon seeds are a savory treat. We crack them open and eat them like sunflower seeds, they’re addicting. Hopia is a little cake with mung beans. They’re basically packaged Chinese moon cakes.
This meant so much to me, especially since I haven’t had Filipino treats since I was in St. Thomas last summer. Remember this post? 🙂 Love you, ate!!!
Dinner and the Miami Heat game. I can’t wait for another painful Dolphins season, it’s just around the corner (FINS UP!), but for some reason, they give the Jacksonville Jags more airtime than the Fins here in Central FL.
and then I watched this thought provoking show…
I love Bob’s Burgers.
I woke up on Sunday feeling so much better. Thank goodness because I had plans to check out Marlow’s Tavern with my new amiga Displaced Yinzer . I cannot wait to share my thoughts/pictures of this restaurant, we had such a great time. (Hi Tony, Paul, Cooper, and Co.!!!)

Speaking of Filipinos, I stopped by One Flight Up for a Perrier. Before I got to the door, I heard all this loud laughter. When I got the entrance, this Filipino guy pointed his camera at me and said “We take pictures of all the guests when they arrive”, ha! I crashed their photo shoot, said something in Tagalog and he was surprised. We’re going to keep in touch because, hello.. a fellow Kababayan, and he takes beautiful pictures.
So there’s my short weekend in pictures. Please come back this week so you can see my post on Marlow’s Tavern of Winter Park.
Random, but I heard this song on the radio a bunch of times today. I love Laura Pausini and Marc Anthony. Laura is Italian, I love how she crossed over to the Spanish market years ago. It starts off slow, but gets up beat..I promise <3
