About a week ago, I learned that the Gem of Mount Dora, the Garden Gate Tea Room was closing it’s doors at the end of June. Bummed out is an understatement. I recently posted the The Top 10 Things I wanted to do this summer in Central FL and one of the things on my list was to have my last cup of tea at the Garden Gate.
Last Sunday, my love surprised me and took me to the gorgeous tea room one last time. It was a rainy day, which was perfect because this shabby chic establishment is warm and cozy.
It was a little too warm out to sip on hot tea, but this iced cranberry hibiscus tea was so refreshing.
Sergio got their famous chicken pot pie. This is how wives drag their husbands to the tea house…. I’m not even kidding. He said it was the best he’s ever had. There was a nice amount of husbands at the Garden Gate…guess what was on their plate.
I had the delicious curried chicken salad with fruit and an edible orchid.
Toasted coconut sundae for me.
The Mr. had the brownie dream.
We had a fantastic time. It was quite memorable because we laughed so much. Everyone was so quiet, I mean, I’m not like a bull in a china shop or anything, but I’m not going to fake being proper with my pinky in the air.
At one point, I cried from laughing so hard.. I haven’t done that in public in awhile.
Here are some pictures that I have taken through out the year of this beautiful tea room.
Thank you for all of the great memories. So many of us are saddened by news, we wish you well. Good luck.
