Here’s a little recap how I survived this weekend while being sick, glutened, and had to feed kids. Plus, I’m sharing a coupon for Big, Bold, and Tasty Flavors of Chili’s At Home.
You guys are probably sick of hearing me say this, but my allergies were awful this past week. When I woke up this weekend, my tonsils were swollen.. no surprise. I cancel a lot of plans due to not feeling well, but this weekend was special, and I had a lunch date with Monica and Cecille.
I did whatever I could to get me feeling great:
1. Listened to my Beyonce, Mariah, and MJ mix
2. Mini photo shoot
3. Chugged Vitamin C powder and hot tea
4. Tell myself I’m going to hang out with awesome girls and eat authentic Indian food
I was so ready to go!
We had lunch at Woodlands, which is the best Indian food in FL (IMO!). I ordered the Kadai Paneer, a gluten-free cheese and veggie dish. Lunch was delicious, but the company was even better. The three of us are so different, but we have the same sense of humor. I’m pretty sure we annoyed a lot of people with our loud laughter. We were kind of kicked out in a nice way. Our waitress told us that we could pay up front, but we were still chatting away two hours later, and some man just dropped the bill at our table. That was our cue to go. Ha!
A couple hours later, I got a bad migraine, nausea, cold chills, and a fever. I had been glutened, which happens from time to time. A dish can be gluten free, but utensils, or the area the food is being prepared in can go through cross contamination. This restaurant also cooks with soy sauce and uses gluten in many dishes. Their English wasn’t so great, so I didn’t state that I was a Celiac or anything.
My fever was at 102 and wouldn’t budge. I threw my Chillow in the fridge and laid on that the rest of the night and got my fever down to 101.6 . The next day, I still felt terrible, but my nieces and nephews were supposed to come over that afternoon.
I didn’t have the energy to cook, nor did I have an appetite, in fact this was my meal.
Oh, I recently got into Breaking Bad. I am so addicted!
but kids are always hungry… and I had the opportunity to check out Big, Bold, and Tasty Flavors of Chili’s At Home. This was absolutely perfect, especially since take out options are limited in my area.
Days before, I had picked up a Chicken Fajita Rice Bowl, Nacho Potatoes with Beef & Bacon, and Chicken Bacon Ranch.
The good news is, my nieces and nephews are old enough to operate an oven. The bad news? They didn’t take pictures! They helped themselves to each dish and said they liked them all. I was also asked to keep these in my freezer for the next time they visit.
Typically, I don’t buy frozen foods, but this weekend made me change my mind. It’s okay to indulge and splurge once in awhile, but this actually helped me out so much, and most of all? The kids were happy!
Oh, I forgot to mention that the city of Mount Dora didn’t have running water from the early afternoon to the evening. I mean, what else could go wrong? Clean up was easy. The kiddos baked (there IS a microwavable option), served themselves on paper plates, used plastic utensils, and threw everything away. LIFE SAVER!
What At Home meal would you have for a big night in?
Many thanks to Bellisio Foods for sponsoring this post and keeping my meals tasty and bold!
