Recently, I was approached by Man Crates to join them in a “create your own survival kit” challenge. Because I don’t have time to keep up with TV series, if I watch shows, it’s typically survival shows. I’m really into Dual Survivor, Bear Grylls, and Man,Woman, Wild…so I was super excited to do this challenge!
I have to admit something to you all, I’m the worst at buying gifts for males. It’s hard shopping for guys, and I know I’m not the only one who thinks that. You would not believe the amount of texts and phone calls I receive from girlfriends freaking out as they try to shop for their significant others. What’s sad is, I get these messages every single year. What’s even sadder are some of the gifts: socks, underwear, video games, etc. Well, the video games aren’t too sad, but their husbands kind of expected it. I know plenty of girls (me included!) who told their men “pick out your gift”. What if you could surprise the men in your life with something fun and out of the ordinary?
Check out Man Crates’ Manifesto:
“We say ‘no’ to ugly neckties, cologne samplers and executive trinkets. We don’t save wrapping paper, we don’t do ribbons.
We ship bragworthy gifts for guys. Gifts that you can’t wait to arrive because you know the recipient will love opening them.
Gifts that people gather round at the office, people following the sounds of wood being torn from wood by the included, laser-engraved crowbar.
We are Man Crates, and we deliver awesome gifts for men.”
Some of my favorite Man Crates are:
Check out this survival kit that I put together. This is what I would bring with me if I was stranded on a deserted island.
I call it Fabulous Meets Self Reliance aka: I wasted too much space on personal care products and would probably die within in a week.
I was off to a great start. The first thing I added was a survival knife, which is the SOG SEAL Team knife. All I know is that it’s sharp and says SEAL Team. Sounds legit. Everyone knows you need fire to survive, but I know that I could never rub two sticks together to create a spark, so I chose a Flint Fire Starter.
Here’s where it starts to go downhill. I love to bathe, I love products, and feeling fresh. I don’t care if I’m alone, I need to be clean. My third item is Aveda’s Give Refresh-Mint gift set which includes shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. You know I’m all about my hair and I would totally use the shampoo as a body wash. BAM!
Of course I had to throw in my favorite deodorant, Donna Karen Cashmere Mist Deodorant.
And last but not least, these Fendi sunglasses. Because, well… if I’m going down, I’m going down in designer shades.
What would you put in your survival kit if you were stranded on a deserted island?
