A few months back, a local blogging group that I’m part of got a chance to check out Pure Barre (Mills Park). When I lived in South FL, I was constantly going to fitness classes. Pilates, Spinning, some form of torture mixed with Yoga and Pilates, wake up at the butt crack of dawn Boot Camps, Zumba and I even did Crossfit for over a year. Now that I live in Mount Dora, there aren’t too many fitness options for me.
What is Pure Barre?
Pure Barre utilizes the ballet barre to perform small isometric movements set to motivating music. These movements target areas where women struggle the most: thighs, seat (da booty), hips abs and back of the arms. An intense and intelligent exercise technique, Pure Barre works muscles to fatigue without any bouncing or jumping, and then stretches the muscles back out.
We were greeted by friendly staff.
Everything was super cute. They even have a boutique where you can purchase special Pure Barre socks and other work out necessities.
Before you step into the studio, they have cubbies were you can put your belongings. There’s absolutely no shoes allowed in the work out studio.
Because I haven’t been doing my usual work out routine, I was actually terrified of participating in this class.
Here are the pros:
Friendly staff watches you through out the class and corrects your form.
The hour long class goes by pretty fast.
You work every single muscle in your body.
Muscles that you haven’t felt in years will be sore.
I personally like that it’s an intense work out without bouncing and jumping around.
The studio is super clean.
It’s too far from me and there are only a couple studios in Central FL.
Your form is going to be atrocious the first few classes. I found myself lost a couple of times, but that’s completely normal.
Most people would find these classes a bit pricey.
I believe this is only good for toning, not an overall work out. If you mix this with cardio + weights, you’d probably rock booty shorts at the grocery store.
I forgot to mention I was sore the following weekend and the first half of the following week. This workout is legit. Thank you so much, Pure Barre for letting us try out this class!
