It started off like any other day, I hit snooze multiple times, got attacked with kisses from my Duke, and tried my best to hide from my neighbors. (Sorry, I’m so Miami!)
I would meet up with Fio to do what we do best:
Explore and eat.
Today we made it out to Historic Downtown Sanford.
This little town is very family friendly. They have great places to eat, sights to be seen, cool bars and host Art Walks. But they’re also known for Oktoberfest, one of the biggest ones in the area!
Which brings us to Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Cafe .
We wanted to try German cuisine since it’s something we don’t eat on a regular basis.
Our waitress suggested Wiener Schnitzel, Spatzle and Potato Pancakes with a side of applesauce. She said these were very popular German items.
It was very tasty, but it’s not something I can eat because of the gluten. I made an exception and brought some pills with me because 1. I love food 2. I’ve never had Wiener Schnitzel and I hate missing out. I just jumped out of a plane, so..YOLO!
We stumbled upon their German Deli behind the restaurant.
Magnolia Square Market
Of course they had an assortment of German beers!
Kinders were one of my favorites growing up. I didn’t know they were German at the time because I would get them at the Italian market.
Milkas are amazing. When my honey goes on trips to Germany, he would bring me a bunch of these bars. I know where to stock up now!
Duplo was another favorite that I would find in the Italian market.
They had a nice selection of German meats, desserts, cheese, pastas, snacks and condiments. Have a hankering for something German? Go here, they’ll have you covered!
We had a great day experiencing the tastes of Germany. Please help make Germany become a reality for us. This opportunity would open up so many doors in our careers.
