I’ve had to lay low the last couple of weeks. After my sleepless trip to Chicago, I jumped straight into work and ended up with the flu. It took about a week to get back to my old self and a few days later, I was hit was sinus issues.
I’ve been enjoying my days cooped up at home.
I got to try a new gluten free pizza crust by Mama Mary’s.
I like to keep my pizza simple with mozzarella, basil, red sauce and hot pepper flakes.
It’s not the prettiest but it was delicious. The consistency of the crust is okay, not the best but not the worst. Gluten free pizza crusts are so hit and miss, but I will buy a couple to keep in my pantry. It’s nice to have on a rainy day.
I also enjoyed Mezzetta olives with my pizza. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know I’m a huge fan of Mezzetta. The Artisan Blend is my favorite. This mix reminds me of my favorite olives from the Italian market in South FL. You can’t go wrong with garlic stuffed olives, that’s another batch that I couldn’t stop eating.
I like Kalamata olives, but only on Greek salads. They’re too bitter for me to snack on, but Mezzetta has Pitted Kalamata Olives with orange zest. They’re mild but flavorful. I enjoyed them alone, which was a first for me.
I have to show the Artisan Blend again, sooo good!!
Even though my little night in was low key, it was packed with flavor. These olives would be perfect appetizers at a holiday party. I keep my pantry stocked all year long.
Mezzetta is running a sweepstakes and the grand prize winner will receive a print digital camera and an olive lovers gift basket. Ten runner ups will also receive an olive lovers gift basket. The sweep will end December 31st, 2015.
