The flight to Puerto Rico is one of my favorites. You should definitely fly during the day and snatch a window seat. I thought of my dad the whole flight because he used to be stationed in PR. I swear, every time I visit him, he tells me stories about his time in Puerto Rico and Cuba. For years he would tell me about an island that had a base he worked on from time to time. It was closed down years ago, so everyone left. I got to see it this trip. I was too excited to take pictures, but it’s basically a ghost town with buildings and dirt roads.
I’ve been to Puerto Rico a couple times. It’s a hot spot for me and my loved ones. Since I live in Florida, the plane ride is only 2 1/2 hours long. This is also a great getaway option for people who don’t have a passport.
This time around, I stayed at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino.
Because I was there for a destination wedding, my time was limited. Walking around Old San Juan is a must. Through out the city is beautiful Spanish colonial architecture. There are many shops, restaurants and bars.
My senses are always on overdrive when I visit. Vibrant colors everywhere you turn, delicious smells in the air and the cool sea breeze hitting you as you walk through the streets. Everyone is on vacay mode, even the locals. The vibe is super chill.
When I travel, I like to eat local cuisine.
