Everyone knows I’m a hair girl. One of the most common beauty questions people ask me is “What hair products do you use?” and “How do you style your hair?”. I put in a little extra work, but it’s very simple. Anyone can do it. I’m a millennial on the go, always rushing to go to meetings, dinners, and yoga class, but somehow, my hair always looks on point.
Here are some pictures from my trip to Raleigh, NC. this past weekend. (I can’t wait to share my travel post with you guys!).
Doesn’t my hair look fantastic? Guess what. It took about 10 minutes to create long lasting, effortless beach waves.
This picture was taken almost 24 hours since I styled my hair. I woke up from a nap..super..friggin late.. oops!
This was the day I landed in Raleigh and got rained on. My hair still looks great!
Let’s move on to the products I’ve been using. If you’ve been keeping up with my blog, I was inspired last month while I was in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The vibrant island influenced me to go a bit lighter with my hair and style for spring. However, I wasn’t ready to make any drastic changes. And let’s be real. As of lately, I haven’t had time to visit the salon. But, I do have time to wash my hair. Because I’ve had great results with John Frieda products in the past, I decided to try their new products, Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ Subtle Lightening Shampoo and Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ Subtle Lightening Conditioner . To speed up the process, I used Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ In-Shower Treatment (which I highly recommend!)
I’ve used these products in a two week span, approximately 5 washes. My hair is definitely a bit lighter, but the best part? THE SHINE. I didn’t use any other products when I shot these pictures.
You want my effortless beach wave look? My secret is pin curls. Whether I do my hair or have someone else blow it out, I always get pin curls. Sure, I’ll look crazy, but it sets your hair. The longer you leave it up, the better. But I get fantastic results even when I don’t have time. On crazy days, I’ll do my hair first. I apply my makeup while my hair sets. Magic.
Start with dry hair, make sure it isn’t wet or damp.
Have hair clips/pins on hand. I prefer these little flat clips because I sometimes make indents with bobby pins.
Use a 32 mm curling wand.
For the sake of learning how to make a beach wave pin curl, look at the pics below.
Wrap your hair around the wand. No need to curl the ends. Use your wand gloves if you’re a newbie.
Unwrap your curl from the wand carefully. While the curl is still hot, roll the curl up.
It’s easy to roll the curl with two fingers. It might take a few tries, but you’ll get the hang of it.
Pin the curl to your scalp so the curl will hold.
See how easy it is to make a pin curl?!
To do my look, put your hair half up, half down. Start off with curling the bottom. No need to pin the bottom layer, ladies!
See the curl by my face? You want to pin the curls around the frame.
Because I focus on the frame, I only had to roll 8-9 curls.
It looks a bit crazy when you take the curls down, so brush them out with your fingers. How easy is that?
Thumbs up, John Frieda. The new Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ line is awesome. This is definitely for you if you’re looking to go a bit lighter, save money and time. Even if you do decide to color your hair at a salon, this line is perfect for in between visits!
I grabbed Visibly Brighter™ Shampoo, Visibly Brighter™ Conditioner and
Visibly Brighter™ Treatment at my local Walmart, conveniently located in the hair aisle. If your Walmart doesn’t carry the Visibly Brighter™ Treatment , you may order online at Walmart.com .
What’s your go to hair style?!
