A lot of us has fitness/health goals. The best way to stay on track is consistency but travel, especially flying can take you off your course. I’ve mastered eating healthy on the road, in airports and train stations.
Before any kind of trip, I like to eat something before leave. This is a no brainer, but a lot of us are rushing, checking our lists and stressing over last minute details that we forget to eat. The airport is full of calorie rich food options. I’m a firm believer in eating whatever you want, especially on vacation, so save your calories for a special meal when you reach your destination.
Bring a packed lunch
I’ve brought salads, sandwiches, hummus kits, etc. with me. They can get through TSA, but liquids cannot. I always buy a bottle of water or two after I get through TSA. It’s important to stay hydrated while flying because being in high altitudes dehydrates your body. Plus, drinking plenty of water curbs your appetite.
Nuts, jerky, protein bars, trail mix and popcorn are some of my faves. Rice Krispies treats aren’t the healthiest but I’m forever 12. Snacks save my life. I’m a grazer, I don’t like to eat huge meals. When you snack, you keep your sugar levels stable, which keeps you from being hangry and binge eating garbage.
I’m always at Orlando International Airport (MCO). They have so many options for their travelers.
This was breakfast time. It was refreshing to see others interested in salads while everyone else ate greasy breakfast sandwiches. Did you know that keeping your immune system healthy starts in the gut? You want to protect yourself from all the gross germs you come in contact with at the airport, plane and hotel. Fuel your body with nutrients.
Fresh Veggies <3
I picked my toppings and they hand tossed the salad for me.
Another reason I stay away from super heavy foods before I fly is because I don’t want to feel bloated and gross while I sit in an airplane. Think about it. After I eat fast food, I usually want to lay down and veg out. I always feel lethargic and can’t move. Who wants to feel like that while they travel? Not me.
La Tapenade at Raleigh-Durham Airport had great options like fresh salad, sandwiches, and fresh pizzas.
As soon as you get to your terminal, walk around. I’ve noticed that a lot of the healthier eateries tend to be away from fast food joints. When you fill up with fiber and protein, you’ll stay full. Eating tons of carbs will make you hungry faster.
When I landed in Raleigh, my cousins wanted to get a super quick bite. So, we went to Wendy’s. Bunless burger is the way to go. My party got what they want and I wasn’t bloated. POW!
Not a veggie lover like myself? Smoothie King has a delicious veggie blend for you all. I’ve actually seen Smoothie King in so many airports. I hit them up all the time.
They wanted to make it easier for everyone to get their greens.
I’m a fan of the avocado pineapple smoothie.
It’s an excellent source of iron, vitamin A, C and B1.
6 grams of fiber to help you stay full.
Naturally hydrating, replenishing necessary electrolytes.
This is perfect for travel if you ask me!
I even get smoothies on the regular. Smoothie King is such a fantastic option, def a fave!
