If you’ve followed my blog for awhile, you’ve probably read many posts regarding hair removal. I’ve always been a fan of waxing instead of shaving. It’s less maintenance, hair doesn’t appear for weeks, and you don’t get irritation/razor burn with waxing. A wax session can cost a pretty penny though. I actually have my own wax pot, but that can also be it’s own production.
The week of my birthday, my air conditioner died. I went five days without a/c in this ugly FL heat. The last thing I wanted to do was turn on my hot wax pot. Let’s be real, I can’t deal with body hair either. While browsing at CVS, I found Sally Hansen Wax Strip Kit Body and Ouch-relief wax strip for face. Back in high school, I used to use this body kit because it was so simple.
Before you wax, it’s best to exfoliate. You want to get rid of dead skin, which will prevent ingrown hairs.
I love to make my own body scrub with 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 cup of coconut oil. Sometimes, I add coffee grounds.
Mix well, add to mason jar, exfoliate. BOOM!
This is the body kit strip. The facial one is exactly the same but mini strips.
1. Rub your hands on the strip
2. Separate the plastic.
3. Smooth one side of the plastic on the direction of hair growth.
4. Pull off close to the skin
It also comes with Azulene finishing oil. Use this after you wax and continue to use it daily because it helps with bumps, redness and irritation.
The only difference between these kits is that the facial kit has numbing wipes, they’re pretty awesome.
Apply the wipes to the area you plan on waxing, allow to dry for 10 minutes before hair removal.
No mess, no fuss, no wax pots, no microwaves.
I love the fact that it’s convenient. Again, who has time to go to the salon? Another great perk is that these strips also work on short hair and helps reduce the appearance of hair growth. I’m all about that. The back of the boxes says that results last up to 8 weeks. It’s been two weeks since I’ve waxed, so far, so good. My skin is very sensitive, which is why I wax in the first place. I didn’t get irritation at all. These products have been dermatologist and salon tested. It’s so nice to not have to worry about shaving during the summer!
