My new friends at Tony Roma’s on International Drive invited me on a Hard Hat Tour. If you’ve driven past this location in the last couple of months, you might’ve thought it was closed thanks to all the construction signs in the area. But, fear not rib lovers. Tony Roma’s is open! This location is going through big changes with their interior design, as well as their menu. Originals and fan faves such as their beef ribs and Romaritas are here to stay.
I’m kind of embarrassed but I haven’t stepped foot into a Tony Roma’s since I was a kid. To add insult to injury, I had never eaten a rib there. When I tell people, I always get a strange reaction. Typically a “They have the best bread!” or “You haven’t tried their ribs?!” is yelled at me.
My first ever Tony Roma’s ribs were the Crispy Pork Ribs (new)
I didn’t think it could get better than this. Don’t judge me, but I mix Buffalo sauce with my bacon and eggs because I love wings so much. This was SO good. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy meat in the middle that’s covered in wing sauce. Y’all..
When the Chef came out, I asked him what his favorite set of ribs were. Honestly, I’ll eat anything. Tell me your favorite and I want to try it. He told me he loved the Pastrami Pork Ribs. Mmm, it doesn’t appeal to me, no offense. If I was on my own, I definitely would have glanced at it and chose four other options.
The ribs sitch got better.
“Pastrami” Pork Ribs (new)
Marinated for 48 hours, agave mustard glaze
HOLLA AT CHEF BOB!!
He gets me. He really, really gets me.
Seriously, the agave mustard glaze is my new favorite. Sweet, tangy with a nice kick.
Bison Slider (new)
Grass-fed bison patty, American Cheese, caramelized onions, sweet pickles.
This was good, but I was busy obsessing over the Pastrami Pork Ribs. I’m familiar with bison, but a lot of people aren’t. If you’ve never tried, this would be a great introduction. Bison is a meat you can ruin easily because it’s so lean. The sliders were perfect.
Pepper Jack Shrimp Poppers (new)
Tempura beer battered, remoulade sauce.
Again, these were good but Chef Bob’s rib creation stole the moment.
Side note, it took so much self control to shoot these pictures. I needed the right lighting and angles while smelling and staring at the food. hahaha
Agave Nectar Romarita
Patron Silver tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, agave nectar
Your best friend after a long week
Chicken Lollipops (new)
Half dozen crispy frenched wings, Fiery Buffalo sauce, bleu cheese coleslaw.
I forgot to mention that I got to try out these awesome dishes with my one of my PR girls and T.R’s brand manager. Great food, awesome company. We talked about how these frenched wings are perfect for date night.
Lamb Ribs (new)
Sweet plum & tarragon BBQ glaze, coleslaw, fries.
This is the only Tony Roma’s in the country that serves lamb ribs. You either love or hate this meat, fortunately for me, I love lamb.
Pork Baby Back Ribs
Original BBQ sauce, coleslaw, fries.
I’m conflicted. I really don’t know which set of ribs are my favorite. They’re all different, yet so good. I’m moody, you best believe my mood changes my tastes.
We ended the tasting with a Crispy Brownie Bite Sundae (new)
Vanilla, chocolate chip, rocky road ice cream, caramel, chocolate syrup, strawberries, whipped cream.
Do I really need to write about this?
It was time to check out some of the renovations.
This is the second dinning room. Almost done, guys!
Check out their beautiful new bar.
They also have this froster that chills cocktail and beer glasses in 10 seconds.
I love their new patio. This is going to be one of my spots this football season.
Be sure to visit and check out their delicious new menu!
