Thank you Hair Cuttery for sponsoring this post. All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own.
I’m forever telling you all how it’s been the craziest winter, spring or summer but 2016 has had me in Go Mode. A lot has changed since spring, it’s been a total blessing. My readership/views went from an average of 10k a month to 40k this summer. Because of this awesome growth, I was asked to speak on the Women on Social Media panel at Orlando’s Women on the Move conference. Public speaking wasn’t my favorite thing to do, in fact, I have anxiety and was practically in tears when I pitched myself to brands the year I started my blog (almost three years ago!). All I had to do was talk about myself, such an easy thing but I made it a million times harder than it should have been.
To prepare for this conference, you know I had to visit my friends at Hair Cuttery. I’m at HC more than you think. They are my go to for blow outs, especially since I don’t need to make an appointment and walk ins are always welcome.
Hair Cuttery is kicking off this fall season with a Cibu Shine Blow Out. This service includes a Shampoo, Redken Chemistry Treatment, Cut, and Blow-dry for under $50. I was sold.
I also picked up the Shine Squad Argan Oil Treatment to keep up the shine when I do my own hair. You’ll see why I love it so much in the pictures below.
Women On The Move Orlando was held at the Citrus Tower in beautiful downtown Orlando. Below is the founder, Arlene Blake.
Had to stop by the photo booth before our session
Women In Social Media Panelist:
Val Decena, creator and director of LookLiveLuxe Group
Natalie Alzate, Youtuber: Natalie’s Outlet
Melody Garcia, columnist at Manila Up Magazine
Andromeda Raheem, Life Coach, Author and Social Media Consultant
I wasn’t nervous until my intro. Melody started listing everything I’ve done in the last three years and I suddenly wanted to cry. There were so many mixed emotions, I’ve never really sat down and thought about all of this. This blog has allowed me to experience things that I’ve never dreamed of and I’m forever grateful for all of you who visit my little space on the internet.
As time went on, I felt comfortable. Melody is actually one of my dearest friends, Val and I go to the same events around town and my friend Christine was in the audience. Natalie and Adromeda are very warm and fun, so my nerves went away quickly. Speaking on the panel was something I enjoyed very much and hope to do again in the future.
We enjoyed brunch afterwards.
The other two panels were great, finances and love/relationships. What I like about these panels are the different opinions but everyone is respectful and funny. It’s quite entertaining and you really get something out of it.
And of course, I noticed Brian Travis from the Bengals. We actually knew another Bengal player from my hometown.
I’m not going completely dark just yet, nude is still in this fall, guys. Especially since I live in sunny Florida, I’m not going to fake it. Hahaha.
I’m so obsessed with the Cibu Argan Oil treatment.
My precious niece was in town this week.
You all know how I throw the words “baby steps” around all the time, but it’s true. I’m very proud that I’ve taken baby steps and went on my own pace.
Her mama is my best friend. We used to be a bunch of basics eating crepes and Starbucks when I lived in South Florida. We’re teaching baby girl our ways, don’t worry.
I seriously can’t get over how cute Ivy is. She’s such a good baby, too!
