For as long as I could remember, I’ve always had issues with insomnia. Like, how could an energetic little girl that goes 100 mph have a hard time sleeping? Even as an adult and this insane schedule (or lack there of) keeps me up all night. Don’t get me wrong, I’m tired. I’ve complained to friends numerous times that I’m so exhausted that I can’t even sleep. Does that make sense? No. Not at all.
A couple months ago, I decided to get serious about my sleep schedule. Since I freelance, my work agenda is all over the place. Someone recently asked me an example of my work week while we were at dinner. His eyes bugged out as he told me he couldn’t ever handle a week like that. YOLO!
My workload this year has tripled because I’m going to stay in Asia for a whole a month. The expenses of getting there, having spending money while I’m away and making sure bills back home are paid are REAL. I was supposed to be there in August, but because of work, my trip was moved to mid October. When I don’t sleep, my allergies get worse and I even get Tonsillitis. No sick days allowed over here, so it was time to get my life together.
When I get flustered with life, I always wonder what my Godmother would do. She’s so awesome guys, that one woman who does it all with such grace. Every time I’m around my aunt, I listen carefully or watch her every move (especially in the kitchen). She’s been a wife for over 40 years, raised two wonderful daughters, a grandmother of multiple children (I can’t count, one of her girls is a foster mom and they all treat every single child as their own.), women’s group leader and a wonderful friend on top of working full time and caring for a house.
Aunt Lorraine appreciates a cup of tea and has enjoyed a bath every single night of her adult life. Can you believe that I looked at relaxing in a bath for 20 minutes as a chore? My brain never shut off before. It was hard to imagine myself doing nothing for 20 minutes.
I went to my favorite hang out, Target to get this slumber party started. You know that I’m such a fan girl of this CVS/Target merge because I love racking up Extra Bucks. Life is so much easier going to one place for all of my needs.
I wanted to try the Up & Up Adults’ Melatonin gummies. You take two gummies about an hour before you want to sleep. They taste like white tea/passion fruit, I’m all about it.
I wandered into the Beauty/Bath aisle, which is super close to the CVS Pharmacy and picked up a couple Village Naturals Therapy Aches + Pains Tension Relief mineral soak packs. What I love about these bath salts is that they don’t smell synthetic and gross like a lot of bath products. There’s also a cooling effect from the menthol, your muscles feel amazing. Did I mention that your skin feels SO soft afterwards?
Can’t forget about a delicious candle. This Chesapeake Bay candle smells like cashmere and jasmine.
I’m loving the bath situation, I even watch football games in the tub.
Sleepy Time Tea and football, it’s going to be huge this fall.
And of course, I hit up Gilligan & O’Malley, I love their comfy robes!
My panda slippers are from Nick & Nora, which are in the PJ department.
I even added peanut butter cups to my night time routine. Justine’s Organic is a fave!
One stop shop for all of this.
I’ve been about this life for over a month. I don’t think I can go back to psycho mode. Nope.
Doing these little acts of love for myself every night is life changing. I feel energized and healthier than ever before. If you’re like me and most of you are, you most likely live at Target but also live for CVS’ discounts/rewards programs. It’s so easy to switch your prescriptions to a CVS Pharmacy/Target location. CVS Health Rewards will allow patients $5 in ExtraBucks for every 10 prescriptions filled. It just makes sense 🙂
