Last week, I was invited to check out Epcot’s Italy Pavilion’s Food & Wine Festival options. I’ve lived in Florida all of my life, been to Epcot so many times and haven’t really hung out in their Italian section. Walt Disney World always goes above and beyond with every single detail you can think of, but because I have family that’s Italian, I mean, Nanny came straight from the boat, I just rarely go for anything “Italian”. Upon arrival, I was handed Arancello and Limoncello cocktails.
And then Prosecco
Along with copious amounts of pizza from Via Napoli. Unfff.
Chef Renzo Barcatta took time out of his busy schedule to chat with us. Born in Cavalese, Italy (North), Chef Renzo worked in restaurants all over Venice, Milan and Rome. He was a lot of fun, I love his personality, super down to earth!
I always like to ask the chef and staff what their favorite dish is, everyone said the Spezzatino alla Toscana con Polenta: Tuscan-style Stew with Carrots, Mushrooms and Crispy Polenta paired with Chianti, Placido. This dish tasted like it was made with love. This was definitely my favorite meal at the Pavilion.
The other option was Pennete alla Parmigiana: Baked Ziti and Chicken Parmigiana, Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheese.
Italian flag throwers entertained us.
I had a very nice time at the Italian Pavilion. I’m definitely bringing my family the next time they’re in town.
The Chew was in production.
I have an Aussie foodie friend who has been telling me about Lamington cakes for the longest time. The hype is real. This sponge cake has hints of chocolate and covered in coconut.
Torrential downpours as we waited for Hurricane Matthew.
Hawai’i’s Spicy Tuna Poke with Seaweed Salad and Nori Rice
Hands down my favorite poke that I’ve had ever had in this state. The consistency and quality was the best. I almost bought 10 of these.
Peanut Butter and White Chocolate Mousse with a Caramel Drizzle
Ricotta and Zucchini Ravioli with Rustic Tomato Sauce
From the Chew Collective. Their area was so pretty, I loved the ambiance but their food was so fresh and delicious, too!
I thought that Greece’s Vegan Loaded Greek “Nachos”: Pita Chips, Meatless Sausage Crumbles, and Vegan Tzatziki was interesting. So many people were raving about this dish for weeks and they weren’t vegan. You won’t be disappointed, it’s very yummy and filling!
My day was cut short due to the inclement weather, but I highly suggest going to Epcot’s Food & Wine festival.
Have you been to the Food & Wine Festival this year?
