When people meet me, they assume I’m very high maintenance. Don’t get me wrong, I have high standards, but I’m also a firm believer in “less is more”. I use this approach in my everyday life, everything from my beauty routine, personal care products, food and style.
Do I go all out and cut off all chemicals? No, but I do what I’m comfortable with and find things that work for me. It’s fun to let my inner Kourtney K out and annoy all of my loved ones. Hashtag #organic #glutenfree is our personal fave.
Recently, I was introduced to products by Mother Dirt. When I first heard of their concept, I jumped to work with them because I’ve never heard of personal care products like these before. These are the first products ever created to nurture the good bacteria in your skin. Yes, guys, we are all naturally full of bacteria, it’s part of our body’s natural ecosystem.
Their goal, along with mine is to rethink what clean means. Balance is a topic I try to share with you because I truly believe it makes life easier and it’s something we all can achieve in this crazy world we live in.
After using their products for three weeks, I have great news, they’re legit. I really, really, really like these products. Mother Dirt’s A0 + Mist has got to be my fave. Living in Florida is awesome, I never have to deal with snow, the weather is gorgeous for the most part, but our hot climate has it’s downfall: I suffer from oiliness and always have to check myself if I stink. It’s just the way of life here. Most of us shower twice a day, three times if you work out.
Scalp sweat grosses me out so bad. Because my hair tends to get oily, I wash my hair everyday or every other day. After using the A0 + Mist for a couple of days, my scalp wasn’t as oily. I don’t feel paranoid when I use this, it’s truly amazing. They claim that it improves appearance of skin issues including sensitivity, blotchiness, roughness, oiliness, dryness, and odor by replacing essential bacteria lost by modern hygiene & lifestyles.
I was a bit nervous to try their Biome-Friendly moisturizer because it felt a bit oily, however, after I rubbed it into my skin, it felt great. It absorbs well!
Love the Mother Dirt Shampoo, which has my hair feeling clean. It works great in conjunction with the AO+ Mist. And the Mother Dirt Cleanser cleans my face well, but doesn’t dry out my skin. You can also use it as a body wash!
I like how all of the products are scent free and allergy tested since my skin is very sensitive. Because of this, it’s unisex. You know how I’m all about the products you can share if you’re boo’d up.
If you’re looking to improve body odor, hydration and oil production in your body, I suggest checking all of these products out. I tested the products in muggy Florida first and now I’m sweating to death in the Philippines. There isn’t air conditioning here and it’s basically the tropics. Guess what? I don’t stink. Mother Dirt has been a lifesaver.
I’m currently in Asia because I wanted to go back to basics. It was time to go back to my barrio and be with my family for a bit. They’re so wonderful, life is very simple here.
My Sanchez part of the family has a beautiful farm near Mt. Arayat. All of their produce is completely organic, without pesticides. Breathing in fresh air without a care in the world means everything to me.
There are cows and carabao on the land. Carabao have creamier and richer milk compared to cows and goats due to the high percentage of fat in their milk. We make pastillas de leche (milk candy) with their milk, hands down the best candy ever!
I haven’t picked and eaten a guava since I was a kid. So happy!!!
All of our houses here have banana trees. We call these “senoritas” because they’re smaller and dainty. So sweet and delicious.
This is a banana tree heart. Do you see the banana forming? I was amazed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. My family also cooks the heart and pairs it with lechon.
Another throwback for me, picking my own tamarind. It’s been awhile since I’ve done this.
This little guy followed me everywhere.
Can’t forget about these MVPs. Thanks for breakfast and #gainz, guys.
I didn’t lie when I said I wanted to get back to basics. The simple life here is quite amazing and I couldn’t be happy. You don’t need to go all the way to the motherland to achieve balance and be one with nature. Even my prissy self enjoys mother nature back home. My favorite spot to hang out are the springs.
Gorgeous, refreshing and some of my favorite memories have happened here with my family.
Canoeing is something we do all the time, but my new favorite hobby is paddle boarding. I picked that up recently in Marco Island, but they offer board rental in the springs now.
So far, I’ve only boarded at the beach and springs, haven’t ventured into lakes yet.
Start off with a longer, thicker, wider board. Most rental shops offer this, don’t worry. You can eventually graduate to a smaller board.
Your paddle should be about 6-10 inches above your head.
Use short side for surf, longer for flat water.
Have fun! It’s so easy, I can’t believe it took me this long to try.
Being one with nature doesn’t have to be a huge production.
