A few week ago, I had the pleasure of kayaking with Adventure Links and my South Florida Bloggers crew.
Adventure Links is a Miami summer camp where your child (ages 8-15 years old) can experience water sports in Biscayne Bay and the Beaches. Activities include: environmental education, surfing, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding. What makes this summer camp unique are the seven convenient pick-up locations throughout Miami-Dade county. They are one of the only camps to offer this service.
Locations include: Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay/Cutler Bay, Coral Gables/Coconut Grove, Miami Shores, Sunny Isles/Bal HarborAventura/North Miami and Miami Beach.
Our day started off at the beautiful Crandon Park Marina where the crew went over rules and safety procedures. I’m not going to lie, I was a little anxious because I’ve never kayaked before. My family can tell you about all the trees and river banks I’ve crashed into during our canoe trips. And here I am, in the middle of the ocean without a dang clue.
This picture. Need I say more?
My wonderful kayak buddy Meesh had a little experience, but she made it clear that she hasn’t kayaked in over a decade.
Paola had us pose for pictures before the excursion.
Guys, Meesh and I paddled in circles for a good 20 minutes. Boarder Patrol kept looking at us like we were nuts.
I’m sharing how horrible we were because it’s the truth but we felt safe. Adventure Links had staff in the front, in between and behind the group. At one point, we were all the way in the back, but we never felt like we had to rush. The counselor in the back had so much patience with us.
How awesome are these views?
After 45 minutes, we got the hang of it. Kayaking was so much fun!
I had such a great time with Meesh. I knew I liked her when she started singing RHCP’s Under the Bridge as we paddled….under the bridge. Haha! She’s so positive, her energy was contagious. We also found out that we had a lot in common. Last year, the both of us were nominees at the TECLA awards. She also went to band camp in the tiny town where my home is. Trust me, I built my home in the middle of nowhere, it’s such a random place. There’s so much more. We want to check out other water sports together soon.
Most of the crew snorkeled but I thought the water was too cold. Plus, I wanted to take pictures. They really enjoyed it though!

Thank you Adventure Links for this wonderful experience. As always, all opinions are my own!
