Universal Orlando’s newest attraction Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon finally opened it’s doors to all yesterday, Thursday, April 6th. Located in the former Twister studio, this long awaited indoor simulation ride took three years to create. The Tonight Show host pitched Universal years ago in hopes of a partnership, but was told they would “think about it.” AKA no.
When it was time for Twister to retire, the studio couldn’t think of a better fit than Jimmy Fallon on New York Street and here we are guys!
When you walk into NBC Studios, you receive a colored card. Instead of waiting in line, you roam the downstairs area.
This area has exhibits honoring former Tonight Show hosts: Jonny Carson, Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon.
The room will light up with colors. When you see yours, it’s time to go to the second floor.
The upstairs area has lounge seating, a little stage where you can catch a live performance by the Ragtime Gals and even get a selfie with Hashtag the Panda Bear.
Through out the area are interactive screens with games, videos and a Thank You note feature. The thank you notes were hilarious, I may have sent out 1 or 20. I’m all about gratitude, ya know?
I currently have a lizard as pet inside joke, so the made my day.
Before you walk into the flying theater, staff will hand you 3D glasses and you’ll watch the most entertaining safety video ever by Jimmy and The Roots. You also have to be 40 inches tall to ride.
I’m not really a fan of 3D rides but I had a lot of fun as I race through New York with Mr. Fallon. It’s seriously funny but the best part was how real it felt. I don’t want to spoil the experience but you drive in a studio, go under water, race through the streets and even fly to the moon. There’s a scene where he throws pizza at the audience, look to the left side, you’ll see his wife and little girls waving. Jimmy also pays tribute to the great Michael Jackson, look for an egg.
Carson Daly kicked off the grand opening.
And of course, Universal’s New York street was where Jimmy and crew made their grand entrance the very festive party float.
His little girl stole the spotlight as she danced away.
This was a wonderful reminder to always be vocal about your ideas. Timing is truly everything. Congrats, Jimmy!
