Thank you Hair Cuttery and Universal Orlando for making this collaboration possible. As always, all opinions are my own!
My gorgeous state has had constant rainfall over the last couple of weeks. It’s obviously the wet season, but it has been such a bummer not seeing the sun and dealing with frizz. Every time I meet with my girls, we complain about the humidity with our fly top knot buns.
When I’m in the tropics, my hair is usually in a braid because of the harsh humidity. I figured it would be the best hairstyle for this Caribbean themed show. Although I’m pretty good with doing my hair, braiding is not my forte.
My Hair Cuttery fam always comes through. Before Carnaval, I stopped by their Dr. Phillips location. My stylist that day was Jarelyn. She created the braid that I wanted in under 5 minutes.
My hair needed a break from all of the heat that I add to my hair. Heatless can be fabulous, too!
I knew instantly that this braid would complete my look.
The Loews Sapphire Falls Resort is one of my favorite properties in Orlando.
The gorgeous property and chill vibe makes you forget about all of your worries.
When we arrived to Carnaval, we were given beads. A little band sang to David and I about our friend Maria. It was such a cute song about us missing her, that she’s the best friend ever and loves to shop at Prada. True story, bro. We laughed so hard because the singer did this on the spot, didn’t miss a beat. It was so fun!

I loved the mojo pork, jerk chicken, ropa viaja and grilled snapper. There was a dish with a bunch of Caribbean root veggies that was amazing. The Yucca Escabeche was so good that I went up for seconds. Through out dinner and the show, our server filled our glasses with Planter’s Punch. Bottomless tropical cocktails? It’s a party, let me live. If you’re not into beverages with rum (shame, shame!), you may enjoy beer, wine and soda.
A little steel drum action to get the crowd going.
This interactive dinner show happens every Wednesday and starts at 7 pm. The band plays rich sounds of the Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad while dancers wow the guests.
The band performed medleys by Gloria Estefan, Bob Marley and Rihanna. They also played Caribbean folk music.
We closed the show with the limbo and conga line. This musical journey and island escape was so much fun!
We did a twofer on this very special day. My Universal family takes me to the best locations. Mr. Orlando VIPs himself shared this gorgeous courtyard at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort.
Where else can you find a beautiful oasis like this in Orlando?
I felt like that girl in A Little Princess. So dreamy!
