I’m such a stickler when it comes to my skincare, most of you know that. As crazy as it sounds, I must be silky smooth at all times. You just feel better, I swear. My mood is off when my I’m not at my best. Sundays and Wednesdays are when I exfoliate and mask up. At this point in my life, it isn’t exactly relaxing but I still make it happen. There’s nothing sexier than a girl wearing a sheet mask while she curses at The Miami Heat.
First thing first, you must hydrate from within. What you consume shows up on your skin. Plenty of water, along with good fats is my number one priority each day. I’ve been trying to be mindful about my coffee intake lately. Not only will you look better but you’ll feel amazing, trust me. Some of my favorite fats are: avocado, fish, coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil.
Bathe in warm water, not hot. Raise your hand if you’re guilty of this, I certainly am! It feels amazing to defrost your body under hot water but you’re only damaging your skin. Hot water strips the oils out of your skin, which is the last thing you want during the winter. We gotta preserve what we can.
Exfoliate! I was told to do this once a week, but I’ve been doing it every other day with amazing results. SimplyScrub sent me a couple of jars to check out. The reason why I’ve been using them so frequently is because I feel like it works but isn’t too abrasive on my skin. Before I shave my legs, I love to use these body scrubs. If I decide to shave in the morning, I use the coffee scrub because it wakes you up. At night, I use Soursop. By the way, they are 100% organic, 100% natural and 100% chemical free.
Coffee Beans, Coconut Oil, Dead Sea Mineral Salt, Tea Tree Oil, Brown Sugar, Jojoba Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Shea Butter, Honeycomb
I like that this has tea tree oil to fight off bacteria and shea butter and honeycomb to help seal in moisture. It’s seriously awesome to use before you shave. This combo helps you combat ingrown hair, giving you a clean canvas. If you want to get grossed out, look up articles on how razors harbor disgusting amounts of germs. It’s insane.
Soursop Leaves, Dead Sea Mineral Salt, Brown Sugar, Mint Leaves, Green Tea, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E, Tea Tree Oil
Soursop is loaded with antioxidants, a skin superfood if you will. SimplyScrub infused this scrub with soursop leaves, which are packed full of vitamins a, b, and c and have been shown to reduce irritation from eczema, rheumatism, and other skin conditions. Tea Tree Oil is also in this mix, so again, I think it’s perfect to use before you shave. What I like about both products is that they smell good but aren’t offensive. I hate synthetic smells. These passed the test!
When you slough off dead skin, moisturizer absorbs so much better. This is an important step that so many people skip. It’s best to moisturize after you stepped out of the shower.
Stick to products that aren’t harsh. A lot of shower gels have tons of detergents in them. Mild cleansers, especially ones that I made for sensitive skin is the way to go.
Heaters dry out skin, it’s best to sleep with a humidifier.
Those are my tips for healthy, glowing skin during the winter months. Do you have any tips?
