Because the weather is warm most of the year in Florida, I had such an active lifestyle most of my life. You could find me playing a water sport, dancing or running through the woods as a kid. It gets a bit challenging to stay fit as an adult with work and family commitments, but over the last year or two it has been so hard for me to stay in a routine.
A few months ago, I decided that enough was enough. My life in South Florida wasn’t as chaotic as it is now. You could find me at the gym or Crossfit multiple times a week. Remembering how happy I was made me step back into the gym. My problem over the last year is that I said I didn’t have enough time, I didn’t want to slave away doing cardio for over an hour every day.
The good news is: you don’t have to do that. In fact, if you want to stay consistent and end up with results, your best bet is HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and weight lifting. I’ve knocked out most full body work outs in under an hour. LIFE CHANGING.
My club house gym is pretty nice. It has all the necessities, but the best part is that no one really uses it. For over a month now, I’ve been doing HIIT on the treadmill.
What is HIIT?
A cardio training method to burn fat by doing low to moderate intensity intervals that are alternated with high intensity intervals. HIIT can be used in running, squatting or biking. This form of cardio has been known to speed up your metabolism as well.
45 seconds work and 15 seconds rest. Start with 10 rounds, build up to 20. You can easily knock out a cardio session in 20 minutes or less.
One of my favorite work outs was Spinning. This intense work out can burn up to 400-600 calories in one hour but the best part? It was kind to your joints. Let me be real, because I can be a real baby sometimes, I loved that it was indoors, cooler and the instructors always turned off the lights. A lot of the sets through out the 60 minute work out incorporated HIIT.
I can honestly say that I feel amazing and very happy with my results.
I need to get into some girlie realness. Periods suck, they’re not fun and put a damper on everything, especially when you’re trying to get your fitness on.
U by Kotex recently launched their fitness compact tampons and I think they’re the greatest thing ever. First of all, you can search my blog, I’ve been a Kotex fan for years. They’re my go to and forever coming out with cute packaging and ways to help us during our lady times.
Exercise was in mind when they created the fitpak. The tampon was designed to fit the curves of our bodies while we are moving.
Whether or not you work out, I think this fitpak is helpful to all females. This plastic storage container protects your tampons. How many times have you thrown your emergency stash in your purse and they get smushed? Plus, it’s cute and discreet. Hello?
Another perk? The case is so small that it fits in my little emergency gym kit. There are plenty of times that I have to stop by the grocery store or do errands after the gym. Always have a change of clothes, but most of all keep your little kit stocked with these goodies:
I don’t like lugging around a heavy bag and this has all the necessities. 🙂
